Where to Shop in Your 30s: Rent the Runway

Rent the Runway

The older I get, the more I love finding staple items that last and are of good quality, but I don’t always have the budget, especially when it comes to attending special events that require more upscale, dressy attire. In comes Rent the Runway. I love their vast array of dress selections, and have been using them for the past 3 or 4 years for weddings & special occasions. They’re a great choice for the 30 something lady, offering an array of styles & choices from top notch, high end designers for rent, at a fraction of the cost. I especially love that they let you pick out 2 sizes (excluding memberships), if you’re unsure of the fit. The clothes are, of course, always dry cleaned before every rental. You can rent up to 4 days or 8 days, depending on how long you need your items.

Go Unlimited

If you can budget an extra $159 a month, the unlimited membership is the way to go. This is perfect for someone (myself included) who attends a lot of events and/or likes to change her everyday or work outfit on the daily with the latest trends and designers. It’s like Netflix for dresses; you get to rent up to 4 items at a time, and switch them out as often (or as little) as you’d like, with no due date (besides your membership). The icing on the cake? You also get the option to buy these pieces at a fraction of the cost!

They also have a cheaper membership option, for $89 a month. This allows you up to 4 items but can only swap out once per month, and there are not as many options available as unlimited.

Rent the Runway has been a lifesaver for me when I feel like I’ve nothing to wear to certain events and believe it’s a great option for the 30 something, boss babe woman.
